  • Banana Daiquiri prompted Michael Corleone to condescend Fredo in the movie The Godfather Part 2. Food Network’s recipe gets 5 stars. To make it, combine in a blender 1 Banana, 4 oz Coconut Milk, 2 oz Lime juice, 50 g sugar, 24 oz of ice, and spike it with 2 oz of rum. Blend until smooth. We like to kick it up a bit with 3 oz of spiced rum and add a pinch of salt.

To make the liquor.com version, combine in a mixing glass 1.5 oz White Rum, .75 oz Dry Vermouth, .25 oz Orange Curacao or Cointreau, and 2 Dashes of Grenadine. Add ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass.

  • French 75: A cocktail featured in several films including The Great Gatsby and Casablanca. The Diffords Guide to a French 75 uses powdered sugar which helps promote texture and bubbles. To make it, combine .5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice, and 1.5 Bar Spoons of Powdered Sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add 1.5 oz Dry Gin, ice, cover and shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled flute and top with 2.5 oz Champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist.

  • Gin Pahit: A cocktail known by British colonists of India. It appears in the 1939 WW2 movie Dark Victory. To make it, combine 2 oz of Gin, 1 oz Simple Syrup and 3-4 dashes of Aromatic Bitters. We like Peychaud’s for the flavor and color, and Rhubarb Bitters for a clean look and fresh flavor. Although, you couldn’t call it by it’s other name: Pink Gin.

  • Horse’s Neck: The non-alcoholic version of this cocktail is featured in a 1950 Humphrey Bogart film. This simple not-tail is made in a chilled collins glass loosely filled with ice. Pour in Ginger Beer and garnish with the longest lemon peel you can get off the lemon. We love a squeeze of lemon in the cocktail as well.

  • Irish Coffee: In Love Bug 1969 Herbie the VW Bug gets drunk from Irish Coffee. To make it for a person, whip together 1 oz of heavy whipping cream, with 3 oz powdered sugar in a cold stainless or glass bowl. Add .5 oz Irish Whiskey and continue to whip until stiff peaks form. In an Coffee glass, combinge 1.5 oz Irish Whiskey and 2 bar spoons of Brown or Turbinado Sugar. Stir until sugar is mostly dissolved and stir in 6 oz of hot coffee. Top with Irish Whipped Cream.

  • Japanese Slipper: Maude Lebowski’s drink of choice in the cult film The Big Lebowski. To make it, combine in a shaker equal parts (we recommend 1.5 oz in a coupe, 1 oz in a Nick and Nora) Melon Liqueur, Orange Liqueur, and Fresh Lemon Juice; add ice, cover and shake for 30 seconds. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a Maraschino cherry.

  • Kir: Featured in the 2001 film Amelie, the Kir can be ordered as is or as “Kir Royale” To make the Kir, combine in a chilled wine glass 2.5 oz Dry White Wine and .75 oz Creme de Casis then top with 2.5 oz of more wine. Switch the wine to a dry champagne or prosecco to make a Kir Royale.

  • Lime Rickey: Ordered in the Great Gatsby, the Lime Rickey is another easy gin cocktail. To make it, combine in a shaker tin 2 oz Gin, 1 oz Simple Syrup, .75 oz Fresh Lime Juice and 3 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Add ice and shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a highball glass with a rock and gently stir in soda water to top. Garnish with your favorite citrus.

  • Margarita: Loved by many, one of the first appearances of the Margarita is in Fun in Acapulco (1962) film starring Elvis Presley. To make a classic margarita, combine in a shaker, 2 oz Blanco Tequila, .5 oz Orange Liqueur, 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice, and .5 oz Agave Syrup. Add ice, cover and shake for 30 seconds. Strain into a wide-brimmed glass with a salt rim and ice, if desired.

  • Negroni: Featured in films about adventure and intrigue such as, James Bond, Uncharted, The Talented Mr. Ripley and House of Dragon, it is a popular cocktail in film. To make it, combine equal parts Gin, Sweet Vermouth and Campari in a mixing glass; add ice and stir until well chilled, Strain into a rocks glass with a rock and express an orange peal before dropping it in for garnish. For the House of Dragon version Negroni Sbagliato, replace Sweet Vermouth with sparkling Prosecco and serve in a fluted glass.

  • Orange Whip: In Blues Brothers (1980) John Candy’s character cooly order a round or Orange Whips for the sheriff’s deputies. To make it, combine in a blender 4 oz Fresh Orange Juice, 2 oz Heavy Cream, 2 oz White Rum, 1 oz Vodka, and 1.5 oz Orange Liqueur. Pulse to combine, then sprinkle into the blender whole 50 g sugar until thick and frothy. Pour over crushed ice in a rocks glass. Optionally garnish with whip-in-a-can.

  • Pina Colada: Featured in a lot of movies or at the very least mentioned via the popular Jimmy Buffet song. Pina Coladas insinuate a tropical adventure is to be had. To make it, combine in a blender, 2 oz white rum, 1.5 oz Full Fat Coconut Cream, 1.5 oz Pineapple Chinola, and .5 oz Lime Juice. Cover and blend while sprinkling in 3 oz Powdered Sugar and continue to blend until frothy. Pour over crushed ice, or add ice to blender and blend until smooth.

  • Q.B. Cooler: The precursor to the Mai Tai featured in the 1961 film Blue Hawaii. Father of Tiki, Donn the Beachcomber’s original recipe is made by combining in a blender, 1 oz Orange Juice, .5 oz Lime Juice, .5 oz Donn’s Mix (recipe in Moana), .5 Bar Spoon Ginger Syrup, .25 oz Falernum, 1 oz Gold Jamaican Rum, 1 oz Dark Puerto Rican Rum, .2 oz Demerara Rum, and 2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters. Blend thoroughly and add 1 oz Sparkling Water, Pulse. Strain over crushed ice. Garnish with a Mint Bouquet.

  • Rob Roy: The name of a historical film released in 1995 starring Liam Neeson and BAFTA winner Archibald Cunningham is also the name of a popular cocktail created in the late 1800’s but had notable popularity in the mid 1900’s. Blast from the Past (1999) and Awakenings (1990) are two movies set in the 1950’s featuring the cocktail. To make it, combine in a mixing glass 2 oz Scotch, .75 oz sweet vermouth and 3 dashes of orange bitters. Add ice and stir until very cold. Strain into a chilled Nick and Nora. Garnish with bourbon or maraschino cherries on a pick.

  • Stinger: This cocktail appears in several movies, especially those set in pre-prohibition era. The Bishop’s Wife, The Big Clock, In a Lonely Place, High Society, and Kiss Them Form Me, to name a few. To make it, combine 2 oz of Cognac and 1 oz White Creme De Menthe in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until well chilled. Strain into a rocks glass filled with crushed ice

  • Turquoise Blue: The name of the cocktail Tom Cruise’s character makes in the movie Cocktail (1988) while showing off some flair. To make it, clap, toss a glass behind your back to your mate, chuck a cube behind your back for your mate to catch in a shaker tin, dos-e-doe, clap; pull the white rum from the well and flip it up while turning around to catch it behind your back. Meanwhile, your mate should be digging for some clean ice in the well while mouthing words to the song. Get ready to catch a shaker that he will quickly flip up over his back while still digging up some ice. He’ll toss another bottle of white rum, which you will flip then pour a fast 3 count (say .75 oz) into your shaker. Take that rum bottle around your head and drop it behind your back for your mate to catch, shout words to the song while somehow getting another .75 oz of white rum in the shaker because it needs to get in there, pull the Triple sec from the well and flip it towards your mate, dos-e-doe and hold out your shaker while he pours .3 oz into the shaker and another .2 oz on his back. Pull the Blue Curacao from the well and do a quick flip-n-catch then pour a tilted 2-count .3 oz Blue Curacao into the shaker while your mate flips up a full pineapple juice pourer and slugs about .6 oz into your shaker with a strong squeeze of half a lime, and .3 oz simple syrup while simultaneously bouncing with you to the beat. Let a girl eyeball you while you’re freeing up the last bit of ice your mate missed in the well. Cover and shake, twirl the shaker, shake, twirl the shaker, shake. Breaker shaker strain into a martini glass. Have your mate throw a garnish in it.

Take the shot of whiskey while your friend suggests Mezcal and you interject you would never drink it. Take your whiskey to go while exclaiming, “Mezcal is for the dammed. “

  • Vesper: The cocktail named after the James Bond order in Casino Royale using the name of his female muse in the movie. To make it, Combine 3 parts Gin, 1 part Vodka, and .5 part Lillet Blanc. Shaken, not stirred with a lemon twist. We recommend it sans the poison added by the bartender.

  • White Russian the only beverage The Dude in The Big Lebowski would be seen with. To make it like the Dude, combine in a rocks glass with ice 2 oz of vodka, 1 oz Kahlua, and 1 oz heavy cream. Stir with your pinky.

  • Zombie: Made popular in the U.S. by the 1978 film Dawn of the Dead, this cocktail is especially popular around Halloween. To make it, combine in a blender 1.5 oz Jamaican Rum, 1.5 oz Peurto Rican Gold Rum, 1 oz 151 Rum, .75 oz Lime Juice, .5 oz Don’s Mix (recipe in Moana), .5 oz Falernum, 1 Bar Spoon Grenadine, 4 Dashes of Pernod, and 1 Dash of Angostura Bitters. Blend for a few seconds. Pour into a tall tiki glass with crushed ice. Garnish with Mint.
