Cocktails & chaos: Two Spirit-Forward Drinks Inspired by the High-Stakes Actionof Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol
We’ve created two spirit-forward cocktails for Mission: Impossible 4 (M:I4) that will take you on an adventure just like the movie! Our first cocktail, The Sandstorm, combines Rye and Mezcal with a special liqueur that adds a tingly surprise. This cocktail is inspired by the chase through the sandstorm because Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) lost the nuclear codes to the Cobalt organization. The flavors and the mouth-feel are inspired by the sandstorm approaching the Burg Khalifa and the eventual complication it creates as Ethan Hunt chases Wistrom for the nuclear codes. Rye and Mezcal are the main spirits for this cocktail, but the real stars are the supporting flavors like the buzz-button liqueur.
Our second, highly-spirited cocktail combines Coconut Rum, Italian Liqueurs and Angostura Bitters to taste just like a masala chai. And I’ll Catch You named after the tense yet funny scene that only Mission Impossible’s Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner can deliver. Inspired by the plan to seize control of a satellite where Agent Brandt (the symbolic black sphere) must rely on on Agent Dunn to keep him from falling to certain death. Pulling from regional flavors of a masala chia, this cocktail combines Rum, Italicus and spiced liqueurs to make a dangerously delicious drink.
Mission: Impossible 4 - Ghost Protocol is a Paramount Pictures production; directed by Brad Bird, written by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemc. The movie stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Paula Patton. The short and sweet of this 2 hour and 13 minute film is, Ethan Hunt (Cruise) is busted out of “retirement” from a Moscow prison to save the world from an extremist’s plot of a world-wide nuclear purge. He ends up at the bottom of a towering luxury car park proclaiming “Mission: Accomplished!” all while sustaining life threatening injury, having been disavowed by the government who broke him out to fix this mess, and leading a rag-tag team of agents who all have their own hang-ups. The cliff-hanger that remains is, “Will Benji Dunn ever get to wear a mask?”

1 oz Mezcal
.5 oz Tingala
.5 oz Amaretto
.25 oz Black Pepper Syrup
.5 oz Lime Juice
Dropper Saline
Fresh Mint

In a shaker tin, combine 1 oz Rye Whiskey, 1 oz Mezcal, .5 oz Tingala Liqueur, .5 oz Amaretto, .25 oz Black Pepper Syrup, .5 oz Lime Juice, and a dropper of Saline or pinch of salt. Add Ice, cover and shake until chilled. Double strain into a chilled highball with a sphere. Garnish with a Mint Bouquet.

.5 cup (4 oz, 120mL) Water
2 Tbsp (30 g) Black Peppercorns
.5 cup (200 g) Granulated Sugar
In a small saucepan combine water and black peppercorns. Allow to come up to boil on medium low heat. Once boiling, add sugar and remove from heat. Stir until sugar is dissolved and place a lid on top to steep while mixture cools to room temperature. Strain into a syrup bottle.

In a mixing glass, combine 1.25 oz Coconut Rum, .5 oz Ginger Liqueur, .5 oz Goldschlager, .5 oz Italicus, .5 oz Ginger Syrup, a dropper of saline, a barspoon of Vanilla, and 2 dashes of Angostura Bitters. Add ice and stir until chilled.
Prepare a collins glass with a clear cube, an black sphere recipe in the description and another clear cube. Strain cocktail into glass.

1 cup (8 oz) Boiling Water
1 Tbs (15g) (3 bags)Earl Grey Tea
2 oz Black Pepper Syrup
1 capsule (5 g) Activated Charcoal
Steep Earl Grey Tea in water for 5- 8 minutes. Strain out tea; stir in 2 oz of Black Pepper Syrup and capsule of Activated Charcoal. Allow to cool to room temperature and pour into molds. Freeze for 12-24 hours
