One Battle After Another barrels through a fractured America with the jittery energy of a revolution that never quite ended, centering on a burned-out ex-radical played by Leonardo DiCaprio who’s dragged back into conflict when his past resurfaces. Living off-grid with his daughter, he’s forced to confront the ghosts of a failed movement as old allies and enemies—including figures embodied by Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro—close in from all sides. We crafted two cocktails that reflect this high velocity story while shadowing cocktail culture. Viva La Revolution is a smoky and seductive version of the classic French 75 cocktail. With Mezcal and a California Brut as the base spirits which play on the setting of One Battle After Another, while the habanero and cocoa bitters add aphrodisiacal intrigue and balance. Don’t forget the “Snap, Crackle, Pop!” from the garnish of popping candy for that bit of explosiveness every revolution is charged with. Primrose Path is a cocktail play on the Beverly Hills Old Fashioned. This play on the Shakespearian euphemism for the pursuit of pleasure is quickly reference by Colonial Lockjaw when he bargains with Perfidia Beverly Hills- an exchange that eventually turns the organization he hallows, the Christmas Adventurers Club, against him. In the pursuit of pleasure, this bourbon-based cocktail is sweetened with apricot and elderflower, balanced with Aperol and beautifully seasoned with smoked out Christmas spices. This cocktail will definitely have you bargaining for more.
