Inspired by the Everlasting Gobstopper in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, this vibrant, multi-layered cocktail captures the candy’s ever-changing magic through bold, fruity flavors that unfold with each sip, echoing the film’s sense of temptation and wonder.  (Recipe Below)

Once Charlie found his Golden Ticket, he like the other entrants, was approached by the mysterious man that whispered in all of their ears.  Introducing himself as Slugworth (Gunter Meisner) he promised riches unknown to Charlie if he retrieves an even wilder creation by Wonka- The Everlasting Gobstopper.  To create this multi-flavored candy into a cocktail,  we built a multi-layered cocktail with distinct and fruity flavors.  The bottom red layer is made with Peach Schnapps and Grenadine for a sweet, syrupy and peachy flavor.  Then, shaken together Crème de Banana, Lemon and Lime Juices for a flavorful base that will in fact, make the flavors seem everlasting. For the orange layer, the slight bitterness and strong orange flavor of Aperol gives this layer a delicious orange kick. For the green layer, mix together melon liqueur and moonshine for a smooth and delicious musky flavor.  Finally the blue layer, UV Blue provides that delicious Blue Raspberry flavor that makes the cocktail so reminiscent of juicy, fresh and sweet fruity candy.  Just like Wonka's Everlasting Gobstopper, this cocktail is so good, you will want to have one to replicate just like Slugworth!

In a small saucepan, combine Pomegranate Juice and Sugar over medium low heat. Stir to combine and allow to heat until the sugar has dissolved and very small bubbles appear, remove from heat and do not stir. Allow to cool to room temperature and strain into a syrup bottle.

  • Creme de Banana

    30  proof/15%  ABV

     De Kuyper/Suntory Global Spirits

A sweet liqueur flavored with a strong artificial banana flavor.

  • Peach Schnapps

    30  proof/15% ABV

    DeKuyper/Suntory Global Spirits

Known for its price point and its popularity in bars and restaurants.  Peachtree is redistilled fruit brandy with other flavoring materials.  It's flavor is syrupy sweet and reminiscent of tree-ripened peaches.

  • Aperol

    22 proof/11% ABV

    Campari Group

An orange Italian bitter named after the French slang word for aperitif.  Aperol has the same flavors as Campari with half the alcohol content.  Flavors of Aperol come from rhubarb, gentian and cinchona.   This results in a tart flavor on the tongue, herbal notes in the upper palate and an almost soapy bitter finish.

  • Tuaca

    70 proof/35% ABV

    Sazerac Company

An Italian Brandy that tastes like caramel, vanilla and citrus made by redistilling a blend of brandies with citrus, vanilla and spices then sweetened and water added to balance at 35% ABV.

  • Lemon Juice

    5-6% acidity

Less acidic than lime juice, lemon juice will add enough acidity to brighten flavors without overpowering when balanced with sweetness.   Usually our preference when needing acid to emulsify with egg white,  aquafaba or cream.

  • Lime Juice

    6% - 8.5% Acidity

Lime juice is generally the most acidic of the citrus fruit juices used cocktails.  The high acidity can help balance flavors and smooth bitterness as well as astringent flavors of high-spirited or unfiltered alcohol. Limes that have had more time to ripen will render a more concentrated and sweeter flavor with floral notes adding complexity to a cocktail.  It is advisable to taste your fresh-pressed juice and adjust added sweeteners accordingly.

  • Melon Liqueur

    42 proof/21% ABV

    Suntory Global

A lightly sweetened liqueur made with musk melons giving it hints of and earthy melon flavor without defining which melon.  Great for adding sweetness and for smoothing out the astringent bite of high proof spirits.

  • UV Blue Raspberry Vodka

    60 proof/30% ABV

    Phillips Products Co.

UV Vodkas are gluten free and made entirely from yellow corn.  It is flavored with vine-ripened raspberries and other additives then distilled four times.  Sweetener, the blue color, and water are added to balance the flavored vodka at 30% ABV.

  • Grenadine

Grenadine is a common non-alcoholic beverage syrup used for its color, sweetness and syrup consistency.  Commercially produced grenadine is more sweet and less citrusy from artisan made grenadine.  Grenadine syrup is easy to make in small batches at home resulting in more pomegranate flavor.

Golden Tickets & Grown-Up Sweets: Reimagining Willy Wonka Through Decadent, Layered Cocktails

The mysterious allure of the Everlasting Gobstopper becomes a vibrant, multi-layered drink, each tier reflecting the candy’s shifting flavors and the film’s sense of curiosity and temptation. As the tour reveals the consequences of greed through the downfall of the other children, the cocktails echo both the extravagance and the risks of overindulgence.
