Granulated Sugar
White granulated sugar, also called table or white sugar, is a highly refined sweetener made from sugarcane or sugar beets. It consists of pure sucrose, adding neutral sweetness without altering the flavor profile of baked goods, sauces, or beverages. Used in a lot of syrups for its clear appearance when melted down, or on the edge of a glass for a hit of sweetness and granular texture while taking a drink.
Taxi Driver
Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver unfolds against the backdrop of a grim and disillusioned New York City, where Vietnam veteran Travis Bickle navigates the overnight streets as an increasingly alienated cab driver. Struggling with insomnia and consumed by what he sees as a society in moral decline, Travis becomes fixated on both a political campaign worker and the plight of a young runaway trapped in prostitution. His failed attempts to connect with others, coupled with a growing sense of vigilante purpose, push him toward a violent reckoning that blurs the line between public outrage and personal instability. Screenwriter Paul Schrader crafts a portrait of a man whose grievances and isolation mirror broader anxieties about urban decay, political discontent, and the search for meaning in a fractured society. Nearly five decades later, the film remains a provocative study of alienation, media narratives, and the uneasy relationship between violence and heroism in the American imagination.
